The Leakwise ID-221 Sensor, which is used with a Leakwise controller, is installed in sumps and groundwater monitoring wells to detect floating oil sheens resulting from oil leaks in underground storage tanks and pipelines. Additional applications include:

The ID-221 can detect as little as 0.3 mm layer of oil on water reliably, repeatedly, and without false alarms. It can also monitor on-line changes in oil layer thickness. The ID-221's high frequency transmitter is mounted on a patented float, which maintains its position precisely at the liquid/air interface, despite fluctuations in the liquid level. It has two field adjustable alarm points:

• Low oil alarm — Detection of a predefined layer of hydrocarbons
• High oil alarm — Detection of a hydrocarbon layer at a second predefined thickness

A stilling well is recommended for all ID-221 installations.

The ID-223 has three different models with range of detection from 40 to 2500 mm (ID-223/500, ID-223/2000, ID-223/2500).

The Leakwise ID-225 Oil Thickness Sensor measures the thickness and monitors the buildup of hydrocarbons and other organic solvents on water. The ID-225 detects sheens as low as 1.0 mm and measures hydrocarbon thickness from 1-200 mm. Many petroleum and power companies use the ID-225 for early detection, warning, and control of oil leaks and spills.

• Wastewater sewer monitoring — Installing an ID-225 in the sewer near the process area will detect and control hydrocarbon leaks at the source, reducing the load from the treatment plant and preventing spills.
