Cameron Flow Element - Orifice Plates & Flanges, Senior Orifice, Meter Run
With the acquisition of North Star Flow Products, the Measurement Systems division secured its position as one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of orifice fittings, orifice plates, meter runs and accessories. The Company offers both single and dual run fittings and meter runs as well as a broad spectrum of accessories including plates, seals and straightening vanes.
Cameron’s NUFLO™ orifice plates are one of the most popular devices for the measurement and control of fluid flow. The shape and manufacturing tolerances of plates used in measurement applications are defined in the international standardization publications of ISO, AGA, ASME, and others. From the formulas and data within these publications, the relationships and values of flow, differential pressure, and plate bore are determined. In flow control applications, orifice plates are used as restriction devices to regulate fluid flow or reduce the flowing pressure downstream of the orifice plate. The use of a fixed restriction orifice can be beneficial and economic by reducing the demands on other flow system components.
Cameron offers an expertise in the design, sizing and manufacture of two broad varieties of orifice plates; those used for the measurement of fluids (measurement orifice) and those used for the control of the movement of a fluid (restriction orifice). Both types are available in a broad range of materials for line sizes of ½” though 60”.
Used to determine the rate of flow of a fluid, a measurement orifice is precisely sized and manufactured in compliance to an international standard of ISO, API, ASME, AGA, etc. Specific styles are offered for installation into the following types of pipe fittings which are also offered by Cameron:
· Orifice flange unions (OFU), offered with a variety of face style
· Single- or dual-chamber orifice fittings
· Orifice holding blocks
· 2” sonic velocity gas flow provers
Restriction orifices are specially designed for the rigors of very high differential pressures associated with the intended purpose of reducing the flowing pressure or the rate of flow. Consultation services offered by Cameron evaluate the processes conditions and desired result to provide guidance on the plate thickness, material, edge finish and bore of the restriction. Designs include factory assembled multistage assemblies for the purposes, where required, of maintaining sub-sonic flow.

The use of straightening vanes in meter runs serves a twofold purpose, The turbulence often created in a complex piping system is straightened and smoothed to a normal flow pattern. The amount of straight pipe required preceding an orifice is reduced. NuFlo™ offers both flanged and pin type straightening vanes. NuFlo™ Start-up Cone Strainers are used as temporary protection for compressors, valves and other in-line equipment from debris, slag, etc. that is usually present in piping systems during construction and start-up

Spectacle Blinds
Spectacle blinds also called Figure 8 Blanks, these blinds have one solid end and one open end connected by a web or tie bar. Standard to meet API 590. Also available in other flange types (RTJ & Flat Face), other materials (304SS, 316SS, 410SS, Duplex, Hastelloy®, Monel & Chrome Moly) and other micro finish flange finishes.

The NuFlo Orifice Flange Union is comprised of a set of ANSI flanges machined with differential pressure taps, gaskets, studs, nuts, and jack screws. The jack screws thread directly into each flange and are easily tightened to allow separation of flanges for inspecting or replacing an orifice plate.

Ring-joint flange types can be used with Category 560, 580 or 590 orifice plate holders and universal Category 500 orifice plates. Orifice flange unions do not include an orifice plate; orifice plates and/or orifice plate holders must be ordered separately.
All flanges are precision-machined to ASME B16.36 Flange Piping Code and have a national Canadian Registration Number (CRN). The bore finish and tap locations are compliant with ANSI / API 2530 (AGA-3) measurement specifications.

NUFLO™ dual chamber orifice fittings* are compact, streamlined and rugged featuring a simple and rapid method for changing or inspecting orifice plates under pressure. The orifice fittings feature a ball type construction for opening and closing without a complicated gear mechanism. The unique construction incorporating a ball closure with spring-loaded, self-lubricating, Moly-filled Teflon® floating seals eliminates any need for periodic lubrication. All NUFLO dual chamber orifice fittings are manufactured in accordance with ANSI, AGA/API and ASTM Standards and available in 2”, 3”, 4” and 6” sizes.

Used to determine the rate of flow of a fluid, a measurement orifice is precisely sized and manufactured in compliance to an international standard of ISO, API, ASME, AGA, etc. Specific styles are offered for installation into the following types of pipe fittings which are also offered by Cameron:
· Orifice flange unions (OFU), offered with a variety of face style
· Single- or dual-chamber orifice fittings
· Orifice holding blocks
· 2” sonic velocity gas flow provers
Restriction orifices are specially designed for the rigors of very high differential pressures associated with the intended purpose of reducing the flowing pressure or the rate of flow. Consultation services offered by Cameron evaluate the processes conditions and desired result to provide guidance on the plate thickness, material, edge finish and bore of the restriction. Designs include factory assembled multistage assemblies for the purposes, where required, of maintaining sub-sonic flow.

The meter runs are fabricated by trained manufacturing personnel with complete facilities for machining, welding, gauging and inspection. This produces a product with quality and metering accuracy not possible with field-fabricated units.
