For measurements in tanks with a calm or slightly turbulent surface, the Rosemount 5400 Series transmitter is the preferred choice, particularly where the tank has a narrow nozzle opening. -
Chambers and stilling wells
The 5400 is an excellent choice for level gauging in tanks with stilling wells. It may also be used in some chambers, but Guided Wave Radar is generally the best fit for these applications. -
Reactor Tanks
The state-of-the art signal processing provided by the 5400 makes it a very suitable choice for tanks with harsh and varying process conditions.

Up to 16 spot elements, placed at different heights, provide a tank temperature profile and average temperature. The sensor can be integrated with a water level sensor. The 566 cryogenic version is used for LNG applications.
The high quality and reliable Rosemount 565/566 Multiple Spot Temperature Sensor (MST) measures temperature with a number of Pt-100 spot elements placed at different heights to provide a tank temperature profile and an average temperature. Rosemount 566 is used for cryogenic applications.
Only the fully immersed elements are used to determine product temperature.
The spot elements are placed in a flexible gas and condensation tight stainless steel tube.
A flange can be attached to a top fitting and the tube can be anchored to the bottom.
Rosemount 565/566 is easy to install, even if the tank is in service. In pressurized tanks the MST can be installed in a closed thermowell so that it can be removed for service or inspection while the tank is in operation.
For LPG tanks, single spot temperature sensors in thermowells are used.
Rosemount 565/566 is connected to the 2240S Temperature Transmitter.
A water level sensor or a junction box can be integrated to the multiple spot temperature sensors.

Rosemount 2410 handles communication between the field devices and the control room, and it is available in two versions, for single or multiple tanks. It also feeds power to the Rosemount field devices on the FISCO compliant intrinsically safe Tankbus.
The tank hub collects measurement values, such as level, temperature, and pressure. It calculates average temperature, observed density and strapping table based volume. Such data can be presented on the optional integrated back-lit display, a separate 2230 display, or be sent to TankMaster or a host system.
It is equipped with an integrated FISCO-certified IS barrier, has power conditioner functionality, and built-in electronics for bus termination.
Rosemount 2410 can be equipped with two solid state relays which can be configured to be controlled by level, temperature, and water level.
The Hub is SIL 2 and SIL 3 certified, and a third relay is dedicated for SIL overfill functionality. This relay is part of a separate SIL alarm channel, which has an independent software function, controlling the relay and providing extensive diagnostics. It is activated both if the alarm level is reached and/or if a device malfunction occurs, and operates in a normally closed mode. The output can be connected to an emergency shut-down (ESD) system.

Rosemount 2160 is a data concentrator that continuously polls data from field devices via the 2410 hub and stores the values in a buffer memory. It can service requests from any hosts and/or DCS systems using the Modbus protocol.
The Rosemount 2160 Field Communication Unit is a data concentrator that continuously polls data from field devices via the Rosemount 2410 Tank Hub. The 2160 stores data in a buffer memory. Whenever a request for data is received, it can immediately send data from a group of tanks from the updated buffer memory.
The 2160 acts as a slave on the group bus and as a master on the field bus. The unit has six communication ports. The ports can be individually configured as either group bus ports or as field bus ports. There are three possibilities:
- 4 field bus ports, 2 group bus ports.
- 3 field bus ports, 3 group bus ports.
- 2 field bus ports, 4 group bus ports.
Each field bus can connect maximum 16 devices (however max. 8 are recommended).

- RS232, RS485 and TRL2 Modbus communication possibility
- Flexible configuration of six communication ports, to be used for field or group buses (2+4, 3+3, or 4+2)
